Fresh Prepared Products should be stored at 1-3°C

Potato Products
Rangitikei Foods Ltd is located near one of New Zealand's major potato growing areas. Since our growers are local, the potatoes arrive in top condition ready for processing. For our fresh prepared products we generally use Horizon, Nadine, Moonlight or Rua varieties, depending on the time of year.
For contract and export work we can obtain the most suitable potato variety for your requirement. (e.g. Agria, Draga, Fianna.)

Carrot Products
The carrot varieties that are grown for us are principally Koyo and Nante. We are able to arrange for other varieties if you require them for a special contract production run.

Parsnip Products
We use the most readily available variety of Parsnip.

Pumpkin Products
Crown Pumpkins, which are long keepers, are used in our fresh prepared products. This grey skinned pumpkin stays moist and cooks well.

Squash is available for processing to meet your export or special contract orders.

Swede Products
We use the most readily available variety of Swede.

Kumara Products
We receive our Kumara direct from our Northland grower. The varieties available are Red, Rose, Gold and Orange (Beauregard).

Onion Products
The main variety that we use is the Pukekohe Longkeeper, which is contract grown to ensure a consistant standard.

Dice & Slice Combos
These are popular mixes, which fill many of our customers' special requirements. If you require a sliced or diced combo that we do have not listed - just ask!

Mixes & Medleys
Made with fresh New Zealand grown vegetables, these are amoung the most popular of our products. These special mixes allow you to go from bag to cooker without any further preparation work.

Coleslaws
Always popular and made from cabbages received fresh from our growers, we offer four combinations as our standard mixes. We can also custom mix a coleslaw to meet your special needs. Coleslaws can be supplied either with or without dressing.

Lettuce Salads
These salads are made with either fresh outdoor or hydroponically grown lettuce. We have listed our standard mixes or we can produce a special mix to meet your individual requirements. In addition to our own products are a range of mesclun salads that are prepared for us by our contract grower. Special mesclun mixes can be made to fill your special requirements.

Green Leaf Vegetables
Whether we source our fresh vegetables from our contract growers or we source them through the vegetable markets, all the vegetables are grown to high standards, often in the local area. We are located close to the rich Rangitikei-Manawatu-Horowhenua vegetable growning areas, which means the vegetables only have short distances to travel to reach us. Our suppliers have attained the 'New Zealand Fresh Produce Approved Supplier' certification or an equivalent standard. This mean that we have the best possible raw produce to work with to supply a high quality product to our customers.

Seasonal Vegetables
Some vegetables are only available at certain times of the year. For example: Brussels Sprouts are usually available from March to July, Yams from July to October, Asparagus from September to December and Beans from December to April.

Rangitikei Foods Ltd sources these products locally, as much as possible, but works to provide the best available produce at the best available price while they are in season. Having our own growers often allows us to stretch the time that the produce is available, allowing our customers more flexibility in planning their menus.

When we can't source locally, we are sometimes able to supply imported vegetables (e.g. Beans). This can allow us to supply fresh produce beyond a limited New Zealand season.

Miscellaneous Products
We process produce that does not really fit into any other category. Sliced Mushrooms, Diced Capsicum & Sliced Gherkins are but a few. We are able to source & supply virtually any type of produce, all grown to the high standards required of Commercial Growers in New Zealand.

Fruit Products
Our leading fruit product is our Chunky Fruit Salad, but we process fruit in many other ways. Pulping for use in hospitals & resthomes, zesting for use in bakeries, slicing, wedging or even just peeling various fruits so that our customers need only to add it to their receipies. With fruit, there is often special processes required in the preparation, all of which we can accomodate.

Wholesale Fresh Fruit & Vegetables
All the fresh fruit and vegetables that we use in our factory and more are available fresh to our customers through our Wholesale Department. This produce is received into our warehouse regularly to ensure the freshest produce available. We are a local agent for Micro Greens. We can also supply fresh herbs, mescluns, hydroponically grown lettuces and salad greens, received daily, from our local hydroponic grower.
