The Company
Rangitikei Foods Ltd is a fresh prepared vegetable and fruit processor located in the lower North Island. Rangitikei Foods Ltd operates under a New Zealand Food Safety Authority Approved HACCP Based Food Safety Programme. A locally owned Manawatu business, Rangitikei Foods Ltd specialises in the preparation of fresh fruit & vegetables for same day distribution. It also wholesales fresh fruit and vegetables to its local and North Island customers.
Located in a prime vegetable growing region, Rangitikei Foods Ltd's factory is close to where the produce is grown, meaning less travel and fresher raw produce. Base root crops such as Potatoes, Onions, Carrots, Pumpkin and Kumara are contract grown and this provides more reliability in supply and stability in pricing.
Rangitikei Foods Ltd delivers locally in the Feilding and Palmerston North area. In addition to its own fleet of chilled and insulated delivery vehicles, Rangitikei Foods Ltd contracts AF Logistics to deliver its chilled products to other North Island destinations.
The Market
The market consists of the full range of food service outlets including Hospitals, Rest Homes, hostels, other institutions, cafes, supermarkets, restaurants and bakeries. Often these include all the outlets in a chain or several outlets of a national business.
Local customers can have same day deliveries with most North Island deliveries being made overnight and the furthest points being 2 day delivery. The market is serviced 6 days a week both North Island wide and locally.
Products
We specialise in preparing the full range of vegetables specifically to meet the orders of our individual customers. We have a range of vegetable mixes, but if our customer requires a special or exclusive mix then we can develop it. Virtually any vegetables can be sourced and incorporated into any recipe required by a customer. The vegetables are diced, sliced, chopped and/or mixed according to special or exclusive customer recipes. Our vegetables and vegetable mixes, which are ready for immediate cooking, are vacuum packed according to customer requirements and then dispatched by chilled transport.
General
Orders are accepted by phone, fax and email. Our product range is listed and described on our website, which has email links for orders and enquiries. Our website is regularly updated with information about produce availability, changes to ordering and delivery schedules' due to public holidays and changes to products as our range continues to evolve. An online version of our current monthly newsletter is also available here.
To enhance customer relations we offer a discount programme through our wholesale department. For larger customers, or chains of outlets, we have a programme of Fixed Term Pricing that covers a range of our fresh prepared vegetables. This allows customers who use a large quantity of prepared vegetables to be protected from price fluctuations in the market affecting their budgets.
The factory has around 3000 square metres of manufacturing and chilled storage space in which to process and pack the large variety and volumes of vegetables and fruit. This gives us the flexibility to set up specialised equipment for large contract work and that in turn allows us to provide a more competitively priced product for our customers.
Rangitikei Foods Ltd has an independently audited HACCP based Food Safety Programme and all necessary statutory and legislative requirements are currently in place.

The business is owned by Ken Cavanagh, a local Feilding businessman, who also has interests in food related, and other businesses in the Manawatu.
